Pilgrims Passing Through
What does it mean to truly not belong here? In 1 Peter 2:11-17, we are reminded that as believers, we are pilgrims passing through this world, and that sense of not quite fitting in is not a problem to be solved but a truth to be embraced. This passage challenges us to examine the daily war happening inside each of us, the ongoing battle between flesh and spirit. The reality is that one of them is winning, and whichever one wins is the one we are feeding. We are called to abstain from the things that war against our souls, not to flirt with the edges of temptation but to flee from it entirely. The principle is simple: what we tolerate will eventually dominate. If sin still feels comfortable or casual in our lives, something has gone wrong in how we are walking in the freedom Christ purchased for us. This is not a message of condemnation but of urgent, loving warning, the kind a trusted friend gives when they see us heading toward a cliff. As we reflect on where our own battles are being lost, we are invited to surrender those areas fully and let genuine transformation, not just behavior management, take root in our hearts.
