The Pride Problem

Pride is the kryptonite of revival. Drawing from James 4:6-10, we're reminded that while our culture celebrates pride and self-sufficiency, God's Word reveals something entirely different: God actively resists the proud but extends grace to the humble. The sermon unpacks how pride was the very first sin in heaven when Lucifer declared 'I will' five times, and it remains the root beneath every sin we commit today. We're challenged to examine our own hearts with honest questions: when was the last time we admitted we were wrong? When did we truly repent with brokenness? The message illustrates that revival doesn't come from more resources, better programs, or nicer buildings; it comes when God's people become desperate for Him. Through the story of Abraham and Isaac, we see that God doesn't want our sacrifices; He wants all of us. We must empty ourselves of ourselves so Christ can fill us. As long as we're impressed with ourselves, we'll never be desperate for God.
